Child Passenger Safety Hall of Fame Nomination

The Child Passenger Safety Hall of Fame is an assembly of standout individuals who have contributed to the advancement of Child Passenger Safety (CPS). Here, these leaders are recognized and remembered for the indelible impressions they have left on their community, our nation, and even the world to change and improve child passenger safety. Each member has made a significant impact on the evolution, development, and perpetuation of CPS. The CPS Hall of Fame honors those who have contributed to CPS in all facets. Included are members that were manufacturers, government / public / private agency specialists, advocates, designers, researchers and many others. All have made contributions that have been regionally, nationally or internationally significant and of enduring value.

Requirements for Nomination: Any person who has been active in a principal role with any Child Passenger Safety program/activities for approximately 20 years will be considered for candidacy (applicants with fewer years but with significant contributions may also be submitted and reviewed). A principal role is a director, chief executive officer, program coordinator, instructor/educator, technician, volunteer, designer, etc. who makes decisions and/or leads others. Former principal players that are not currently active may also be nominated. It is not feasible to list every possibility regarding principal role. Through the vetting process of the applications, the CPS Hall of Fame Selection Committee will examine all the credentials; however, the committee will use a target of 20 years of CPS involvement as its initial benchmark and guideline to help assure the nominee qualifies for consideration in the CPS Hall of Fame.

Criteria

The following criteria should be considered when nominating an individual for the MACPS Hall of Fame.

Criteria 1

Made significant and enduring contributions to the field of CPS

These contributions must be exemplary. What difference did the nominee make that would make future generations think his or her achievement was outstanding? Are these contributions normal for an individual in their field or well beyond normal? Were these achievements extraordinary within the context of the time in which it occurred? Will these accomplishments stand the test of time? Will this nominee represent a significant and enduring accomplishment 50 years from now? If yes, nominate them. Verify facts concerning the candidate. Do not make assumptions. (40%)

Criteria 2

Elevated the status of CPS and helped open new frontiers for other individuals

Highlight how individuals were positively impacted by this nominee’s accomplishments. How did the nominee enhance society’s view of CPS? What changed as a result of this nominee’s actions? What did he/she accomplish that changed the future for CPS? (40%)

Criteria 3

Inspired others in CPS by their example

Highlight this nominee’s impact on others. Describe the characteristics that make them a role model for others. Explore the depth of that impact by talking with others (peers, colleagues, historical groups). Find out what positive and lasting changes occurred based on the nominee’s achievements locally, statewide, nationally, or internationally which serve as the basis for the inspiration. (20%)
