Resources for CPS on Airplanes

Federal Aviation Administration

The FAA’s recently updated webpage (see article above) is very useful for CPSTs and families looking for information on using CRs on airplanes and other travel tips.

A free FAA child safety sheet contains basic best practice recommendations for using CRs on airplanes and a QR code for finding more information, like travel tips for parents, podcasts with experts, CR and CARES installation how-to videos, tips for children with disabilities, and airline family seating policies.

SRN offers free safety fact sheets in English and Spanish on flying with children at www.saferidenews.com.

Lia Tuso

CPST Lia Tuso is an expert on traveling with children, particularly on using CRs on airplanes. Find many useful resources on her website, including links to information by airline, details on international travel, and many other logistical tips families can use to keep kids safe while traveling.

Find Tuso’s Safe Skies: Your Ultimate Guide to Child Passenger Safety in the Air, a free resource for flying with kids.

Tuso has also written a children’s book called Up, Up, and Away! A Toddler’s Flight Adventure. Unlike other books written to prepare children for flying, Tuso’s emphasizes how a little boy, Santino, flies safely while seated in his CR.
