Recertification for CPS Technicians and Instructors

The Child Passenger Safety Technician program requires recertification every two years.  The details are at the Safe Kids Worldwide Certification page.

Continuing education is part of the process, to help ensure that CPSTs and Instructors have kept up to date.  Six (6) hours of such education are required every two years.

Safe Ride News Publications offers the following CEU opportunities:

1) One CEU per year of subscription to the newsletter, Safe Ride News

2) One CEU for passing a quiz about the LATCH Manual.

Other sources of CEUs are certain conference workshops and materials on the CPS Board website.

If your certification has expired...

Technicians whose certifications have expired are eligible to take the 8-hour Certification Renewal Course.

This $75 class is designed to renew the certification for expired technicians who have maintained their child passenger safety knowledge and their hands-on skills and, again, wish to become nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs). After successfully completing this class, students will be re-certified and be able to provide both individual and group CPS education. Teaching strategies include lecture, skills testing, and a written test.

This is NOT an update/refresher class.
